Peer support

At Randwick Girls High School, we offer every Year 7 students the opportunity to participate in our Peer Support program. This program is facilitated by Year 10 Peer support leaders. During this time, Year 7 students are given multiple opportunities to form friendships bonds with their peers as well as receive guidance and advice from our experienced Year 10 students.

Over the course of 10 sessions, Year 7 students undertake different activities in small groups to develop their social and emotional skills, their sense of self and connectedness as well as fostering an anti-bullying culture. These sessions reinforce the development of the skills listed above, through hands-on activities conducted by Year 10 Leaders, discussions, and self-reflection after each session.

The first session of Peer Support is incorporated in the Orientation Week for our new Year 7 students. On their first session, they are placed in small groups of 8-10 students. During Peer Support, they remain in their groups to allow students to form positive connections and relationships with peers who may not be in their class or friendship groups. This program aims to support Year 7 students from their first day at Randwick Girls High School and foster lasting relationships.
