Learning support

We monitor each student's progress and provide additional learning support if this is required.

Our school uses learning programs and specialised staff where needed and we work in partnership with parents and carers to assist students who have special learning needs.

Extra Help

Students who need learning support are offered extra help throughout their studies at RGHS:

  • in class support from our School Learning Support Officer (SLSO)
  • Fully  trained EAL/D teachers
  • MacqLit Program (Term 2) is a systematic and explicit reading intervention program for low progress readers in Year 7
  • the Counting On program (Numeracy Support)
  • a peer Reading program 
  • the Raise Frontiers Mentoring Program (Year 8)
  • a mandatory Study Skills program for Years 7-12  
  • a mandatory Literacy Program for Years 7-10
  • a range of in class adjustments i.e personalised learning and support plans
  • access to Disability Provisions for all exams, including the HSC
  • the Year 12 Transition Support

Learning and Support Policy Procedures

RGHS Homework Centre

A free homework centre operates in the school library on Monday and Thursday from 3.30- 5.00. This centre is supervised by volunteer RGHS teachers and university student tutors who are ex-students of RGHS.

The aims of the Homework Centre are to :

  • provide access to library resources for students  after school hours under supervision

  • provide access to students who do not have computers and /or internet at home

  • provide guidance/opportunities to students who have difficulties completing homework at home
