The School Show is a combined Randwick Girls’ and Randwick Boys’ High School production. Each show is based upon a particular theme, such as Australiana, books, iconic figures or movies and is made up of approximately 15 items representing these themes through dance, singing, drama, costume, lighting and sounds, all the magic theatre has to offer.
The School Show is a fantastic extra curricula activity that combines the efforts of over 200 school students with professional choreographers and dance teachers, school teachers, parent helpers and community members to build a production that is like no other.
The Show is held at NIDA Parade Theatre, Kensington, where students have the opportunity to work with industry professionals and perform in front of an audience of over 700 people.
Students can participate in The Show through being in the Cast (dancing, singing, acting) or the Crew (working behind the scenes, moving large pieces of set and working with hand held props). Students who are not performing or in crew can still join the Backstage Helpers, painting, costumes, sets and/or assisting the backstage co-ordinator. Performers are expected to participate in the preparation for the show.
